Quick basic info
Saturday, July 19th, 2014 02:44 pm-- Mermaid, currently in a 'human' form. White-blonde hair, pale blue eyes, very pale skin.
-- Specifically a deep sea mermaid
-- Captured by scientists and kept observation for a period of ~20 years.
-- At one point used almost forgotten magic to give herself legs in order to escape. Her tail becomes a scale for her to carry around. However she was caught quickly and they took the scale, keeping her in human form so they could study it and her further.
-- Eventually she escaped again and used pieces of glass from her former tank to kill her captives and make her way out. Couldn't locate her scale, which she needs in order to turn back because the scientists hid it somewhere else for safe-keeping.
-- Can't return home so she's forced to wander around until she can find it.
-- Has horrible scarring over her throat and chest where the scientists did surgery to get her lungs working so she could breath air and to see how her larynx worked so they could start to teach her to speak. (Currently only speaks English and the language of her people, and can communicate with fish using bioluminescence or series of clicks and noises.) Speaks English in short sentences.
-- Wears a labcoat, a pair of men's trousers (in black) that she took from one of the scientists bodies, because she's aware that humans wear clothes. She doesn't see a point in them personally. No shoes.
-- Quiet, prone to weird staring for long periods of time. Blunt and honest. Distrustful and quick to lash out against humans.
-- Mermaid form based on the Viperfish. "Found in waters 5000 feet deep, the teeth of the viperfish are so long that they can’t even fit into its own mouth. Instead, they curve back towards the eyes. The fish takes out prey by swimming at high speeds and impaling the victim with its fangs."
-- In mermaid form she has large fang-like teeth that can retract just enough for her to be able to close her mouth, and can be extended. However the scientists removed the longest fangs during their experiments, as they were impeding her ability to speak clearly.
-- Her human form has all of its teeth, however her mermaid form is missing those fangs.
